Question:
Pysch Evaluation was done last week and the Doctor left me a message to discuss?
Has this happened to anyone? What does this mean? Please give feed back, Dr. Van Havern in Alpharetta, GA. — quick823 (posted on January 10, 2008)

My office called me when they received all the info from the evaluation.
Maybe something that was discussed might have some concerns for the
surgeon, or maybe he discusses the evaluation with all his patients. I
really wouldn't worry to, to much. I know it's easier said than done, but
I'm sure everything is fine.

You may be worrying about nothing. Call the surgeon. These tests are done
to make sure you fully understand how the surgery will affect the rest of
your life. If you have severe depression, the phych eval may say to wait a
while until you feel better. Anything is possible. Call the surgeon.

Sure, he wants to discuss the things that will effect you the most, like
the need for support groups or nutrition training before surgery. Just
call him and make an appointment and find out what areas you need to focus
on before and following surgery.

I would like to say thank you to everyone for there support and fast
responses. The doctor actually called me back and he just wanted to
discuss the report with me, so everything is good and I have been approved
by psych. You guys are the best, thank you so much.

I think every clinic's requirements must vary as I had to take an MMPI
test, then come in and discuss the results with the psychologist, and
because I wanted to, and he felt it was a good idea, I continued to see him
a few more times to deal with mild depression and anxiety issues that
showed up on my MMPI results. It's for the best if they require that. I
think it certainly helps you after surgery with issues that may come about.
Don't stress, be happy that they are concerned or need to talk to you
about it. Good luck. Cheryl

They want to discuss the results more than likely. I actually had to go to
therapy before surgery because it was found I have a high stress
life....and to think I didnt even know it. Its not that bad..and the end
results are worth it.

Why expect the negative? Think positive!

They probably just want to discuss your results. Think positive. I had my
test in Nashville, TN. I don't know what I was expecting but mine was the
same quesitons over and over in different wording, kind of tricky I
thought. My girlfiend went with me and when I went out to wait for my
results I told my girlfriend the only thing I realized from taking the
psych eval was that I sometime suffered from road rage! When I went back
from the waiting room for my results I didn't know what to expect. They
just went over the results and told me I was ok for surgery.
