YOu are doing great for 7 weeks. I am on my 9th week and I have only lost
40lbs. I'm on a plateau, and hope it ends soon. But I 'm losing inches
cause everyone tells me i'm much thinner.

Consider yourself blessed!!! When was the last time you lost 65 pounds in
7 weeks? That is the weight of my 6 1/2 year old. Think of it that way.
You lost a 1st grader!

That's a BIG "Hell Yes!" on the blessed part....... I think the
people "with" the problems "post" here....Kinda like
working a "customer service phone line", I am practically FLOORED
when I get a compliment on some ones service....LOL!!! Enjoy your sucess,
the weight will go at a more steady "reasonable" rate now.

Doesn't sound like you were ready to have this surgery because you don't
seem to realize this surgery was just a TOOL, not a cure all. The surgery
is NOT to do all the work for you, you have GOT to find your own willpower
etc. Did you get some type of guarantee before surgery that said you would
dump? Are you following your nutritionist's instructions, portion sizes
etc? Or have you gone back to your old eating habits and stretched your
pouch already? Congrats on the pounds lost though. Wish I would have lost
that much at only 7 weeks out! Sounds like you need to seek out a
psychiatrist or a GOOD support group that will help you realize this was
NOT a fix all, but ONLY a tool to HELP you lose weight so you can continue
on this good losing path. Good luck and God bless!

I just went to your profile and saw that you had the same surgeon's office
I did. I know the procedures you had to go through and I'm wondering how
you were able to slip past the psych eval?! I KNOW our nutritionist's and
our surgeon's did NOT give ANY guarantee about dumping etc. Pull out your
book you got during your nutritionist eval and re-read everything and
follow it! At your next appointment, TALK to the nutritionist. That's
what she is there for. Good luck!

Also helpful when you stall is to change something about your exercise
habits...if you're a walker, switch it up maybe.. say, lift some light
weights or go swim for a half hour a day at the community pool (even walk
in the water-great resistance, no impact) many times this will shake your
metabolism and get the scale moving again. And, don't forget, just because
you're not having problems (*which is awsome) don't take it for granted
that the old habits can be re-established... this cannot happen or your old
surgery would be for naught! Good luck, Leslie

WOW! 65 pounds in 7 weeks...that's amazing. Funny how we would have never
considered that "lack of progress" when we were trying to lose
wait without this surgery! I am just short of 10 weeks out and have lost
53 pounds. Just after the first month (during which I lost 40 pounds) I
hit a plateau that lasted almost the entire second month. SO FRUSTRATING!
But I just had to remind myself that never in my life had I lost 40 pounds
in one month and my body was saying WHOA! It had to catch up, and I had to
wait it out. As far as eating anything....COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS! I still
have days that nothing stays down, and still cannot eat many things,
including meat of any kind or fresh fruits or vegetables. (I have never
wanted a salad more in my life!!) So, just ride it out and be grateful for
what you have. The loss will start again. Merry Christmas!

I reached a plateau after about six or seven months post surgery. I
remained at about the same weight for several months. I did not dispair
because, even though my weight was not decreasing, my waist size (and other
measurements as well) was shrinking. It was at about that time that I
started exercising regularly. I was losing fat and turning it into muscle.
(I am simply gabberflasted at anyone who could lose 55 pounds in only ONE
MONTH. That had to be a real strain on your body - especially your liver.
Are you taking anything to prevent gall stones?)

Losing 65lbs in 7 weeks is pretty remarkable. That's almost 10 pounds a
week. It's probably not healthy to go much faster than that.
If you are looking at it as I lost 55lbs in 4 weeks then only 10lbs over
the next three weeks, try to change your perspective. Rather than keeping
track of your weekly loss, look at the big picture.... the one where you've
lost 65lbs so far!!!!
Congrats.
