Hey Roxanne, First congrats on the weight loss. Some doctors are diffrent. I had my surgery on July 10,2007 and was told by doctor that I had to wait 5 weeks until first fill in my band. I wanted one sooner but he told me to wait the required time. So next week I'll get my first fill. I guess it is just up to the doc as to when you get fills. Continued success at your weight loss.---Scott M

Oh, my, I think I'd go nuts if I had to wait 3 months for a fill. I had my first at 6 weeks, and my 2nd fill yesterday at 10 weeks. I was getting kind of concerned - I've lost about 30 pounds in 10 weeks, but the first 20 pounds came off in the first week so it seems sooooooo slow. I'm able to eat 1.5 to 2 cups of food at a time in order to really feel full. If I eat less than that, I don't get full, and I'm very hungry an hour later and wind up in "snack mode", which is really bad. I was so glad she did a fill yesterday, and I have another appointment in 2 weeks in case I need another fill. I did ask if it was possible that I was stretching my pouch by eating so much so soon and she said it wasn't a problem. The opening is just so big right now, the food is slipping out of the pouch, which is why I need to keep getting adjustments. Different doctors have different policies on when they like to do fills, so you're really just stuck with whatever your doctor feels he wants to do. I heard of some doctors who give you a bit of a fill when they do the surgery, others do it 2 weeks after, and some much later. I've also heard of one lady who was a year out and had never had a fill - the band itself was enough for her, and as long as she was losing weight the doctor didn't want to give her a fill. Another lady in our support group has lost 80 pounds in a year and she has only had one fill. It's very individual, so as long as you're feeling well, not too hungry, and you're losing weight, you're doing great! Best of luck, Beth
