Question:
Will a fistula cause the surgery to be redone?
I have conflicting information. I've heard that if you get a fitsula you might have to have the surgery redone. I am almost 4 years post op and my husband an I are trying to have a baby. What will this new found fistula do to this process? — KissMeCate (posted on October 8, 2006)

It will probably depend on where you have a fistula at...a fistula just
means an opening hwere it is not suppose to be. Why not ask your surgeons
office or your PCP? They will know more about your individual
cercumstances. BTW- Good luck with the baby!

were you transected? If not a SLD staple line disruption or sometimes
called fistula can cause a painful ulcer. It can be fixed and you should
get transected at that time to prevent a reoccurence. The SLD can cause
pain and weight gain but usually isnt life threatening, do call your
surgeon...
