Question:
Anyone Else Go From RNY to DS?
Hi. It's been so long since I've posted. I had RNY surgery in June, 2001. I've only lost half the weight I should have. My surgeon and I have been talking. I'd like to be converted to a DS to help lose the remaining 200 lbs. He is willing to do it, however, he prefers doing a Lap Band over the RNY pouch instead. Ultimately, it will be the insurance company's decision, I guess, but I should love to hear from anyone else who has been in this situation. Thanks so very much. Hi Colleen, I have heard many people who original have RNY convert over to
DS with no problem. The weight loss I heard when you get a revision is
much slower than original surgery but you get the results. Good luck to
you on whatever you decide. Fran

It's not more restrictio you want, it's more malabsorption . . . best
answer, IMNHO, is to get revised to distal.
A common channel of 60" or so would take the rest of that weight off
you, and so would the 5-6 protein shakes/day, and boatloads of supps that
my doc *mandates*. www.OhToBeThin.com, and www.VitaLady.com . . . DocOh
does revision on people from all over US. He's great surgeon. And his
patients are very successful.

Thanks for the feedback. I should still like to hear from anyone who has
gone from having a RNY converted to a DS. Rachael, my surgeon won't revise
the RNY so that's not an option. I'm distal already with 100 cms.
bypassed--the most my insurance would allow. I already do the protein
shakes and drinks; I'm more than five years out of surgery. Thanks for the
responses. Cordially, Casey
