Question:
Is all Obesity Surgery considered Bariatric Surgery?
Excluson section states it won't cover obesity related medical care except medical or surgical treatment for Morbid obesity. Directly under this phrase it states Bariatric Surgery. I'm confused?? — monny2400 (posted on July 3, 2006)

It sounds to me like it's saying that it does cover bariatric surgery. It
says it won't cover obesity related medical care EXCEPT for surgery, and
apparently lists bariatric surgery as an option. Without seeing the exact
wording it's difficult to tell. Simply call your insurance company and ask
them. Good luck. :)

I agree. It sounds like it does cover the surgery. Maybe they are talimg
about diet drugs or things like that. I would call and make sure but it
sounds good.

Check your insurance company website for information regarding the surgery.
Have it visible when you call the insurance company so you'll know where
to direct them. Sounds a little ambiguous to me.

The statement says it covers Bariatric Surgery (WLS), but does not cover
any obesity related medical care, which seems strange to me. This sounds
like: diabetes. hypertension, arthritis, or any other obesity related
medical care because of your being overweight, and medications for such.
Sounds like they want you to have WLS.
