Question:
I am 13 days post-op and I have a terrible cold.........
I have a bad headache, a stuffy head, stuffy/runny nose, a very sore throat, and diareaha (?). Is there anything I can take over the counter? My DR takes forever to call back. Thanks. — Susan M. (posted on October 23, 2003)

hi sweetie, well your imunity is really low post op. it would be a really
good idea to go even to your family doctor, or walk in clinic. first to see
that your throat is not infected and that your chest is ok...pnomnia can be
dangerous for use newly post ops. drink warm tea...its an antioxiant and
soothes your throat...try un sweetened throat lausages, try not to get
anything that inhibits coughing important to let out what needs to be let
out...flem ect, and most important get those liquids in. what ever u do do
not take anything asprin based.and yes tylonal is good, but u probably
already knew that.

Robitusin diatetic, cough and cold
worked wonders for me - tastes really REALLY bad though. I put a packet of
splenda in the dose to get it down :>)

I am so sorry that you are sick. I found that children's liquid tylenol
worked just terrific. Our new systems cannot take the tablets of tylenol
but the liquid goes down easily and does really help. Just take the max
dose for kids. They even have a cold and flu version. Hugs - Phyllis

I am 2 1/2 months post-op, and about 4 weeks post op, I got a cold from my grandson, I took Tyernol
cold medicine, I had to cut it up
into small pieces, but it helped get rid of my nasty cold, and I used Robussin diabetic cough
syrup along with the tyernol cold
medicine. Sorry you feel bad, and I hope you get better soon.

Thank you all....I'm going to stick to Tylenol for now. But thanks again
for all your insight.
