It lasted about 4 weeks for me. Things will get better.

Well I hate to say this but mine stuck around until I was able to get
enough fluids in. I had it at least a month maybe longer. My teeth used
to stick to my tongue at night because my mouth was so dry. Plus my tongue
was covered in a white film for what seemed like eternity. This too shall
pass dont worry just part of the process. Wendi Open RNY 9/19/02 down

You are in Ketosis that is what usually causes it. As you begin to eat
better it will go away. Try to get in some more fluids too. Sometimes hot
fluids will go down easier in the beginning. I used to get flavored herbal
teas and add splenda.

Denise, I'm sorry to say that I will be post-op 5 weeks tomorrow and my
mouth is so dry that I can't even speak sometimes. I feel like all I do is
take in liquids but nothing seems to help. I hope the other posters are
correct when they say "this too shall pass" LOL. Well, best of
luck to you on your journey!

You mean it goes away! lol! No, seriously, I though I would never see the
end of it and now at almost 12 weeks, I still have the horrible taste in my
mouth (and breath too, I'm sure) and a slightly pasty mouth at night, but
overall, it has gotten better. I'm not sure I totally agree about it going
away with more water though...I think at 3 weeks I was up to 80 ounces a
day and it didn't help one bit. It could have something to do with
ketosis...but I'm not sure about that either, as the dryness is slowly
getting better and I am still regularly in moderate to heavy ketosis. I
guess this is another one of those things that is just going to take some
time. In the mean time, there is a dry mouth toothpaste and rinse I found
at Target that did/does seem to help some.
