Question:
Are the risk the same for having plastic surgery.
I don't want to step on any toes but everyone is so hooked on the complications ofhaving wls but i really dont see any post about having plastic surgery. i.e. complications, risks, etc. All of these surgeries are major no matter what. Are the risk the same for having plastic surgery. I guess if you figure you can survive wls you can survive plastic surgery. This site has helped me overcome alot of fears. I think this surgery is a reality check to get everything in order. Please continue to pray for me. Kesha — LUKESHA C. (posted on February 1, 2003)

When I had my consultation for TT and breast lift my Dr told my DH (who is
afraid of all surgeries) that this was much safer than the wls as it is
only skin removal not going into the body cavity. BUT! I did have almost
death complications from my TT, I had a bleeder and also had a bleeder with
my breast lift. You can read my profile if you want details, go down to the
plastic surgery heading as it is long. ALL surgeries come with some risks,
but all that I went through I would still do it again in a second. ALSO,
most people don't have complications just like most people don't win the
lottery.

You have to realize that when you had WLS you were already a huge risk just
because of the more then 100 pounds of excess weight - not to mention any
comorbidities that you might have had. Also, with WLS, they are cutting
through muscles. For plastic surgery, they aren't cutting through the
muscles, they are removing excess skin. Also, your now at a much more
preferable weight and you probably don't have as many (or maybe none)
comorbidities. ALL surgeries carry a risk, however, there is much less a
risk when your thinner.
