Do you mean they're refusing to accept BC/BS? Not surprised since this was
discussed recently and BC/BS isn't covering the procedure any more (in a
lot of cases.) I know there was a new addition to my policy w/ them and
they're now excluding it. Didn't receive any e-mail about it though.

There are sooo many BC/BS policies and i am positive that mine still covers
this surgery! I have heard that BC/BS in Florida will not be covering it
but even that i am not sure of. I think you have to call the number on your
card and just ask directly. I got my BC book for next year a WLS is still
in it and covered. Thank God!

I don't know which bcbs you have, but I have bcbs hmo illinois, & I
just got approved in about 1 week. No problems here! They just want to make
sure that it is medically neccessary. :)

Okay, I have posted this like a hundred times I think. BC/BS is trying to
go to a national standardized plan. In my limitations and exclusions book,
it specifically lists WLS is covered if the candidate is determined to be
of MEDICAL NECESSITY. Go to your HR person. If you ask for the
limitations and exclusions to your policy, they HAVE to provide it. NOW,
this gets even trickier, because YOUR SPECIFIC BC/BS may cover WLS, but
your employer may have turned down that part of the policy. Your employer
has the final say, IF your Ins Co covers it to begin with. I have BC/BS of
California PPO-High Option Plan through my co. Good LUCK!! I hope this
helps you out... Love from Texas, Ann
