There are lots of his patients on this website, especially in the chatroom

I know many people have positive things to say about Dr. Goodman, but I
have my reservations about him. I know he has phoned some of the members
of this group at home and has said some pretty rude things. Also, as a
nurse I would not even consider letting a surgeon perform a procedure on me
that was not experienced. I consider experience over 500 procedures. Dr.
Goodman has not even done 200. That makes him a risk in my book. There are
too many surgeons out there that have done over a 1000 RNY surgeries to
consider someone this inexperienced. I am sorry if I sound rude and I am
not trying to insult those that have been happy with his care. I am just
giving food for thought. I personally would check into Mt. Sinai if I was
still living in NY.

To Anonymous:
First of all, you've obviously been misinformed. Dr. Goodman doesn't have
a rude bone in his body. It amazes me how someone could post such
slanderous accusations without firsthand knowledge and not state their
name. You have NO credibilty with me. Also, as far as going to a more
experienced doctor, I almost went to surgeon who claims to have performed
thousands of weight loss surgeries, and he and his office staff had such
terrible attitudes that I reported him to my insurance company. To me,
this behavior was indicative of the aftercare I would receive, and I wanted
no part of it. Some of these "very experienced" surgeon's
offices are like weight loss surgery factories. I chose Dr. Goodman as my
surgeon because of his credentials and his fast responses to my phone calls
and emails, and 3 1/2 months after my surgery, he has never let me down. I
know many of his post-op patients, and I have not yet met one who doesn't
feel the same way. So, if you're speaking from your own experience, I will
listen. Otherwise, keep your "advice" to yourself.

I am also pre-op with Dr. Goodman. He is by no means rude. He is exactly
the opposite, very cordial and understanding. As for his level of
experience, I'm willing to trust him with my life.

I am VERY pleased with my choice of Dr. Goodman. I did a lot of research
regarding surgeons in the NY/NJ area. I could have picked any one of the
many surgeons in the area and I am so glad I chose him.
He is a talented surgeon with a great bedside manner. My surgery was
actually a revision from an Adjustable Gastric Band that has slipped many
times. This made my surgery longer, riskier and more complicated. I trusted
Dr. Goodman and never once doubted him or his 'level of experience'.
Trust me, dealing with me isn't easy. I had already been through 3 WLS
surgeries (with a different surgeon) and this whole thing terrified me. Dr.
G. listened to me , answered my questions and explained my options,
listened again, answered again, explained again.... He was patient,
respectful, caring, and understanding. When I called or emailed Dr. Goodman
with questions, (pre-op and now as a post-op), he always responds back to
me in a timely manner. I have never had any other doctors or surgeons
respond so quickly to my questions... I can go on and on , but you get the
idea.
I think it is great that you are investigating surgeons. I would suggest
not listening to people who have no firsthand knowledge of Dr. G. but
rather to what his patients say about him. I don't know of a single patient
who wouldn't agree with what I have said here about Dr. Goodman.
