Question:
About how many calories are
Some patients have vbg, others like myself have been encouraged to have the RNY because it not only limits the amount of food one can consume, but also eliminates some of the caloric absorbtion. Based on a 1000 cal. intake, approximately how many calories will not be absorbed? Will it really make a huge difference on the amount of weight lost? — BARBARA C. (posted on August 21, 1999)

I understand that you will forever NOT absorb about 1/3 of your fat
calories. As far as the others, I think we absorb all of them. Maybe less
at first, but you have to watch what you eat, that is why they call it a
"tool"
