Question:
I had lap-gastric bypass on 4/12/10 ..most of my incisions are healed but...
my bellybutton is still scabbed over..I am having burning & pain on my left side on the biggest incision site (that is healed), it sometimes hurts when i sit or walk. I called Dr & nurse said I pulled something or it's healing!!?? but today my bellybutton incision that is almost healed, cracked open and is draining just a tiny bit and it smells like it did in the hospital..could it still be the gas they put in me at surgery time??? — Sue W. I had pain to so I rushed to the Dr, thinking the worse, but he told me it
was normal. However, I would never say it is fine for someone else, you
need to check with your Dr. Gas was a major pain in the arse, no pun
intended LOL!

18 days after surgery, this wound was healing but now opening & ozzing.
Wash this and dress it. And take it easier. changing the dressing each day.
If it's still draining omn Monday, get back to your surgeons office. As if
it opens further. You'll need drugs and inside cleaning to keep from
infection. Then packing as it'll need to heal from the inside out. Which
means daily cleaning. Mine took 3 months to heal.

I just had a sleeve done 4/19. My belly button incision is the only one
not clearly healed at this point. Seems like it's a problem for
many.....makes me wonder why they do one there? If given the choice, I
certainly would have opted for one more tiny scar on my stomach than this
belly button mess. Luckily, no puss, odor or pain for me, just still
hasn't healed completely to lose any hint of a scab. All of the other
incisions are super. Good luck, and hope you don't have to
"pack" it...that doesn't sound pleasant!
