Hiatal Hernia after RNY

I am 10 years out, regained about 35 lbs and have a hiatal hernia. Anyone had one repaired after RNY? My surgeon was Dr. Marema in Ft Lauderdale but I'm in Ga now. Thanks, Min    — msmin (posted on January 27, 2010)

This is a relatively simple laproscopic procedure. I have had two repairs. You may be experiencing some heart burn or reflux caused by the hernia and the surgery will put an end to that. Your pouch can actually become lodged or partially lodged in the hernia tear and cause problems, so it is best to get it fixed. Best wishes to you!
