Question:
4 1/2 years post op gained 50 lbs back and have severe abdominal swelling with pain?
I am new to this site and don't know how to get anyone's help. I had my surgery in Feb. 2005 and I did great at losing weight. I started at 272 and got all the way down to 155 by Oct. 2005. I started to gain weight about 6 months later. It started out as a pound here or there and then I would bounce for a while before gaining some more. It turned into a vicous cycle for the next several years. Around mid 2007 I started to experience severe abdominal swelling 15-20 minutes after eating. It has never been one specific food that continues to trigger this and it tends to last for hours. I end up looking like I am about 6 months pregnant. I also get this pain right below my breast bone that feels the same exact way it did when I had gallstones before my gall bladder was removed in 2002. I am now weighing anywhere from 195-205. I don't eat alot, less than 1500 calories a day, i'm severly tired and in pain more often than none. Every Doctor I have been to say that I am fine. I have no leak or blockage and all my blood test come back within range. I did have an addiction to pain killers for some time, does it have to do with that? My surgeon Dr. James K. Weber is in Seattle, WA and I currently live in Las Vegas. I don't have the funds to fly up there to see him. I just need some help and/or advice. I do not want to gain anymore weight, in fact I want to lose it, AGAIN! If anyone has any clue what this might be or if you've experienced something similar please let me know, PLEASE...I'm in need of help. Thanks...Lisa Dalman — lisadalman (posted on August 29, 2009)

HELLO LISA, I AM NOT SURE I HAVE AN ANSWER; WHAT I WILL SAY IS GO BACK TO
BASICS; I WILL BE 6 YEARS OUT AND HAVE GAINED ABOUT 15 POUNDS BACK TO DATE;
I EAT AND DRINK (WATER) AT THE SAME TIME AND CONSUME MORE THAN I SHOULD DUE
TO THAT FACT (NOT RECOMMENDED); AGAIN GO BACK TO BASICS AND SEE IF THAT
HELPS.......THAT'S WERE I AM HEADED....GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS

My advice would be to find a Bariatric specialist near you and get an
appointment a.s.a.p. and meet with a dietician.

I agree with Maureen and you have any Gi testing?--I would ask for that.
Something doesn't sound right.
