Julia,
I had my VSG 6-23-08, I've lost 157 lbs. I also ate 1 cup of soft food,
because I felt hungry, and 1/2 cup just didn't look like it was enough to
keep a person alive. My advice to you would be to cut back to 1/2 cup,
because I think that I would have lost a whole lot more weight if I had
only eaten a 1/2 cup like my nut recommended. I'm glad that I've lost the
weight, I still have a long way to go, but in hind sight, I could kick
myself! I wish you all that is good. May God Bless You Abundantly, Kathie

I had my VSG on March 25, 09 and I find that the amount of food I can eat
varies to the type of food. Softer easier to digest food I can eat a little
more of and meat and more solid food I can eat less of. It also varies from
day to day week to week. The main thing I do is stop when I feel full and
don't eat anymore. I have avoided getting sick this way and I have lost 52
lbs in three months and I think that is pretty good. Exercise makes a big
difference as far as weight loss goes. I find sometimes I feel weak if I
don't eat enough especially when I'm very active. If 1 cup is making you
feel too full then cut back. If it's not then check your amounts when you
start with more solid foods the main thing is to try to make sure you
don't overeat and make yourself sick or stretch out your new sleeve. I hope
you do well. It's taken some time and adjustment to getting used to eating
such small amounts but its good to know it only takes a little food to fill
me up now. I'm sure you'll go great.

Hi. I am 9 months out (10/09) and on average I eat between 1,000 and 1,200
calories a day. I have 2 to 3 protein shakes a day, I eat about 2 to 2.5 oz
of meat in a serving, some kind of veggie and all the water and Crystal
Lite I can get in. I find that if I chew REAL well things like steak, chops
etc..I can get more in with out feeling full so fast. Things that have more
volume and substance to them will fill U up faster. They also take longer
to digest so U feel full longer, but ""slevvers"" don't
get quite as hungry as we used to as the protein of the stomach what is
responsible for a good amount of the hunger hormone is removed in surgery.

I will be three weeks out tomorrow and I have been introducing
"mushies" for the last few days. However, I can only eat about
1/4 cup. Per my Dr orders, I am to take 6 sppon fulls and put in my plate
or cup and thats all I am supposed to eat. I am to eat that 3x a day with 2
snacks allowed if hungry feeling. He said i could eat fruit as those 2
snacks if desired. Every dr is different we all know that =) but here is my
experience so far and I have lost 35 lbs to date! good luck to you.
