Question:
leg pain and cramps
I am three months out of lap RNY. For the last few weeks, worse this week I have been having quite severe cramps and pain in my legs, not just my calves but my thighs as well. My legs feel weak and sore. Im preety sure this is a deficiency of some kind. Anybody have any ideas? I go for bloodwork tommorow. Just wondering what people who have been here might think may be the problem. Thanks for reading. — sassy1696 (posted on June 14, 2009)

My guess is a potassium deficiency. Glad you're going to the doctor. Also
make sure you are getting in the proper amount of fluids each day as that
also causes muscle cramping. Let us know your outcome of the lab results.

water, potassium or magnesium lack of one or all three
ask to have the 2 labs drawn

I'm guessing it is Vit D and one of the electrolytes because you have both
pain and cramps...That's usually the case...Good you are getting labs! Let
us know what it was! I am chronically low on magnesium and that causes me
leg cramps every few days if I forget to take extra magnesium with my
calcium...Those calcium related vits/minerals can cause very painful
symptoms when they are out of balance...So it's good you are not ignoring
them...
