Question:
Starting other stages of the diet
I am 11 days out from having RNY and I was suppose to start the puree/blended stage of the diet on 5-2-09. I am to nervous to start the next phase because I am scared I'm going to gain the weight back that I have already lost so I am still on the full liquids. Any advice??? — cxperr01 (posted on May 4, 2009)

You need the nutrition! If you don't get the nutrition you need your
body's metabolism is going to slow down and you're for sure not gonna lose.
Just eat sensibly, stop when you are full, and do what your doctor's have
advised you to do. You've got to get back to normal eating habits and
normal foods sometime. It's just that now you are going to find that you
have a "new normal."
Don't be afraid...just be sensible. And exercise as much as you are able.
Oh, one last bit of advice....do not forsake your protein input. If you
don't get that protein in then that will slow you weight loss, too. I
figured this one out the hard way. Good luck and God bless!

I read these posts backwards...I wish I stared here first...You are put on
liquids after surgery mainly so you can heal and get the proper amount of
protein in your body to aid in that healing process...EATING food is NOT
going to make you suddenly gain weight...EATING the TOO MUCH of the WRONG
foods will...Eating a few tablespoons of food post op RNY after eating 3
double cheeseburgers, diet coke and no fries Pre op...didn't do a thing to
help me gain weight...I SWEAR! :)
