Question:
Has anyone ever used CHRISTUS HEALTH insurance for the LAPBAND procedure?
I have CHRISTUS HEALTH insurance and I have been told effective Summer 2008 my insurance covers the lapband procedure at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Bariatric in Beaumont, Texas. Is this true? — mzphatlayde (posted on November 14, 2008)

You should call your insurance company. They are the only ones that can
tell you for sure.

I also agree, you need to call your insurance company. That is how I found
out what is covered and not.....farmgirl58

Hi from one CHRISTUS person to another! I had my surgery prior to coming
to CHRISTUS. It is my understanding that they will now pay for it but you
have to jump through some huge hoops first. Check with your local
HR/benefits people or if you are the actual Associate shoot me an e-mail
and I will try to route you to the appropriate information.

ALWAYS ask your insurance company for ANY questions to see what is covered
under your employers choices.

I went to a consultation and it was not very promising. The insurance
coordinator informed me that four other patient with CHRISTUS coverage
backed out. CHRISTUS requires you to go through a one year weight loss
program (which ins. does not cover) at the patient's expense totaling
$8000-$10000 of out-of -pocket expenses. And the surgery itself is $15000.
Does this make any sense?
