I can empathize! I had to do clear liquids for 7 days, with no protein.
Gatorade was the only flavor in my life during those days. The thing that
kept me motivated were the before and after pictures on this site. They
were my inspiration! You can do it!!! Good Luck and it will all be worth
it!!

Oh, I soooo know what you're going through. No one told me that I could get
a "caffeine" headache from not having carbs or sugar...so, for
the first three days I was miserable with cravings and headaches. I'm now
6 days of liquid protein and have noticed all the food commercials on t.v.!
I'm better with the headache too and am just focusing on the goal. Eat some
of the freebies, like the egg drop soup, s/f popsicles and s/f
puddings...but, not a lot...that should help some.

Hang in there and keep in mind why you are going through your current
struggles... it is temporary and a means to an end. The end being a thin,
happy, healthy you. Really focus on the future and leave the snacks alone.
It is probably a combination of head hunger and tummy hunger.... keep
feeding it with what the doc has ordered and go one day at a time. You can
do this... lean on us and keep checking in. You have to be strong now.
Put up some pictures of a thinner you or pictures of a size 8 dress or a
fabulous pair of high heeled shoes you will wear when you reach your goals
and when you get hungry or frustrated... go to your "inspiration
wall". Whatever will inspire you whether it is a trip to Disney with
the kids where you can actually walk and not start a fire between your
thighs and enjoy yourself or a tiny pair of jeans tacked up on the wall you
will eventually fit into. I find these inspirational things work great.
My surgeon also told me when I have a craving to go to my bathroom mirror,
get completely naked and look at myself.... if I am perfectly happy with
what I see... go ahead and eat it, if not, put it back.
Get trigger foods out of the house so there are no temptations. Do
whatever it is you have to do to be successfull. Call a friend, journal,
whatever.
Good luck,

Trust me, you can do this. I could not believe the human being could exist
on what we "ate" the first 2 weeks after surgery, but we can.
Your brain is going through some serious mental changes...and habits take a
while to redirect themselves. You are going to do great. I checked out
your profile and it's true, one of God's virtuous women can do anything
with Him at her side.

I'm so glad I had a surgeon who doesn't make his pateints do liquid diets.
I feel so bad for those of you (which seem to be the majority lately) who
have to do these liquid stages. All I can say is that if you are looking
for permission to eat something...You really should call your surgeons
office. maybe they are not as strict as you think or have some ideas...Or
they may smack you on the hand for even thinking of eating something. I
never did any mandatory liquid diets...I caould barely get thru two days of
liquids doing the 5 Day Pouch Test...Even then I ate chili soup and split
pea soup and lentil soups. That make it 100 times easier when I realised
that protein shakes and water were not all there is to
"liquid"...

Push yourself to get through day 4. Once you're on the other side of day 4,
you can do anything! Just remind yourself that the reward is on the other
side. =)

I am almost 3 week post-op and will be going to puree'd foods and know
exactlly what you're going through. I can't wait to chew something! The
good thing is that this too will pass and before you know it you'll be able
to eat. Leave the room when you see all those food commercials on TV if
they bother you that much. Just remember, you did not go through what you
just went through to blow it now. Food will come, but you have to let
things heal. Hang in there!

OK, here it is, remember when you were waiting on hearing regarding your
2nd denial, how upset you were, then someone told you to wait patiently on
the Lord. Do it now. You Will get through this. I was told this would be
the HARDEST time, because you have your stomach, but you are putting
almost nothing in it. Remember this and remind me when I am on the 5 day
high protein liquid diet in Late Oct/Early Nov. LOL. Keep the faith. He's
with us, carrying us when we need it.

IT IS A HARD TIME, BUT IS BETTER YOU OBEY THESE RULES.
I DIDN'T FOLLOW THESE RULES AND IRRITATE MY POUCH AND HAD TO COME BACK TO
THE LIQUID STATE AGAIN FOR ONE MORE WEEK.

I am on day 5 of liquid protein shakes & it does seem unending. My
shakes do taste all right though. I did a week & 1/2 2 weeks ago
before they canceled the surgery. Had to see a hematologist. Now doing
shakes again. Have you tried SF Crystal Light, diet Lipton Green Tea
w/citrus, SF popsicles, bouillon, no fat plain yogurt, light cranberry
juice? Those have helped me some. As others have said, God will sustain
us when we ask for help. I also look forward to food to chew later. Take
care & best wishes. Brenda s
