Question:
Had RNY on 6/26 having constipation issues, is this normal?
Prior to surgery was taking Biotin and didn't have any issues with constipation, should I continue taking the Biotin or are there any other suggestions? — * S. (posted on July 15, 2008)

Yes, most people have constipation issues after surgery. I tell everyone I
know that is having surgery to make sure that you have stool softeners on
hand. The boitin does not cause these issues, so continue to take it as it
will help with your hair. Good luck. Paula

Constipation is a very common problem with WLS. Drink, drink, drink lots
of water, eat 1 or 2 prunes per day. I know a lot of people who use the
Benefiber. I, on the other hand have problems with diarrhea so I can't
tell you from experience.
Call your surgeon and see what he/she recommends.
Good luck,

Yes! I'm six months out and I've had two major bouts with this. Mostly
because I'm not getting enough fluids in, and/or I'm trying a new kind of
protein AND not getting enough water. Water tends to fix it, but when it's
been two days and you STILL haven't had any reaction, put some Miralax
(OTC) into some hot tea (or SF hot apple cider, yum), and you'll be good as
new by morning-time.
