Question:
The last 20 pounds!
I am almost 10 months post op from RNY and have about 20 pounds to lose; how did you lose the weight as you got closer to your goal? Did you still lose weight after 10 months? — Kristi S. (posted on October 8, 2007)

Hi there...
I am also almost 10 months out from my RNY. I am 13 lbs away from my goal
weight that I have set for myself. I have often heard that it is aways
harder to lost the last few pounds. I know for me some of it is because I
am not working out as much as I should be. But, I am really not that
worried. We have lost so much weight already. WE ARE ALREADY WINNER!!! I
am not going to stress over it and you shouldn't too. It will come in
time.... They say you really don't get to see your stopping point until
about 18 months out. So, we still have time.
Keep up the good work and be proud of how much you have lost already. We
will meet our goals in due time!!!!
Congrats on your working towards a healthier life!!!!

Remember that the number on a scale does not measure your success, it is
your quality of life that is the true measure. When you feel comfortable
and your life is going in a forward direction all is well. Congrats on
doing so well!!! FrankC.

I am also 10months out, and found it harder than ever to lose the last 20
pound. I finally joined a spa 2 weeks ago, and I lost 5 lbs since then.
Before that I averaged 1-2 lbs for the past couple of months. I had been
excercising at home, but I guess the cardio workouts really made the
difference.

Hi, I am 13 months post op and I have not lost any weight for the last 4
months. My body has gone thru some changes- readjusting, firming, becoming
more proportionate. People have commented that it looks like I am still
losing, but I can tell you not in pounds. I recently went to a trainer at
my gym. he said in order to shock the system you have to change up your
routine every 2-3 weeks. The body becomes used to things and will just
stabilize and remain there. it worked! he put me on a whole new exercise
regime, and i immediately lost 4 lbs in 2 days. I thought i was going to
die from the sore muscles, but it was a good kind of pain! He said I was
definitely at a plateau and we were gonna over come it. I too, have 20
more to lose. I wish you luck, and try to change up the exercise every
month, you will be surprised. It is important at this stage (well all
stages, but especially at this point) to exercise in some way. We have
alot to be proud of!! keep up the good work! - Deb

I am 2 years out of RNY surgery I stopped losing around 8 months out &
was being very active. Went from 280 to 170 so 110 pounds is great but I
never did lose that last 20 pounds that I wanted to. My goal was 150
pounds, but I realized the number on the scale does not mean everything
because how you feel and what you can now accomplish is what matters. I
just completed my 4th marathon 26.2 miles this Sunday Oct. 7th so I don't
let that last 20lbs bother me. Live life by how you feel not how the scale
makes you feel. Giggles 280/170
