Question:
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL INSIDE AND FEEL NORMAL AGAIN
I had Lap RNY on 4/3/07 and I was just wondering how long does it take to heal inside. Outside I feel great and my cuts healed great. I had 2 c-sections and that usually took 6 months to heal in the inside is it about the same? So far 1 month post-op and lost 30lbs.... — YVETTE121 (posted on May 11, 2007)

Hi Yvette!
A lot depends on you, if you're a fast healer, it should take less time.
One thing I found out by bitter experience, just cos you feel pretty good,
you shouldn't jump back into your everyday routine just yet. I thought I
was fine after a month, so I went food shopping. Took a friend along so I
wouldn't have to lift anything, and I was OK -- until the ride home!
Jersey City is the pothole farm for the entire US, and I got so bounced and
sloshed and shaken that I was in agony! It put me right back to day one.
But after another month, I was fine, just a bit of a chicken, I didn't lift
anything that weighed more than ten pounds for a year! So please, take it
easy!!! And congrats on the weight loss, you big loser you!!!! ;-)

Hi Yvette. Feeling healed inside has more to do with everything than just
the body. You are going through a ton of changes. You are losing weight,
healing from major surgery, having head issues and physical changes. Each
one is different. I am glad for you that you feel great and that the cuts
are healing. You are probably right in about 6 months things seem to come
together for most of us, but just be aware that you are going through a lot
of changes and that can affect how you "feel" about the
completion process of healing up. Take care. Patricia P.

Wow, you have lost a lot of weight already!
It takes a long time to heal, but the time varies for everyone. At least
six months, because it is major surgery.
