Michelle, I use the Walmart Whey protein, it tastes pretty good and it has more protein per serving than the soy. It has 23 grams per serving.

Personally, I don't think it matters much, it's the protein grams that matter the most. My nutritionist said she prefers skim milk to soy milk if that's any help. I use EAS Carb Control ready to drink and that's soy based, 17 grams of protein per shake. Others have 35 that are whey based. It is my understanding that your body can't absorb 35 grams at one time anyway.

I will post the bioavailability list, but it'll not come out n a column, so do your best. Whey is at the top, soy being about #10, OK? Whey is MUCh tastier, smoother. Soy is gritty and if you want to use it, be sure your GYN knows you are using this much soy. Whey powders (the best) can be shaken with as little as 4 oz of water and deliver 30g protein, less than 5g sugar. (add milk for another 12-18g of sugar) BV LIST: The numbers are the BV. (Biologic value). This is only how easily the body can absorb them, not the protein g in each one. And as stated before, the last few need to be blended to make a complete protein. whey blended products 100-159; whey 104; egg 100; cow's milk 91; egg white 88; beef 80; fish 79 (83 on another chart); chicken 77; casein 77; soy 74; potato 71; rice 59; wheat 54; beans 49; peanuts 43;

My Dr. told me that Whey is easier on the stomach and easier to digest. So, all the protein shakes that I have been drinking are Whey.

Just to add what everyone else has said... nutrition values aside... My obgyn told me to try to use soy in moderation. Both my mom and sister have had breast cancer and have been told not to eat soy products.

Whey protein is easier to absorb, tastes a bit a better and is easier on your new pouch. My Nut says that the Whey is at the top of the "food chain". I would recommend trying the IDS New Whey protein vials. They are 42 grams (they come in 25 grams, too). I take shot with breakfast,lunch and dinner and this way I am guaranteed 42 grams of highly absorbable protein in my daily routine....what I eat for the rest of the day makes up the difference so I average grams of protein is around 60-65. Good luck.

I noticed that whey has more protein than soy. I used Walmart Vanilla Protein Shake (whey) and it had 50 gram of protein with two scoops. I belive the soy protein from GNC had 23 for two scoops.

Because I take medication for my thyroid, I need to stay away from soy, as it interferes with its effectiveness. For that reason, I stick with whey protein.
