Question:
How soon will the stabbing pain go away?
I have that stabbing pain every time I stand up now. I am 2 & 1/2 weeks out and it did not start until 4 days agao. I am scared. — abuinchico (posted on October 6, 2006)

I too have a stabbing pain, it is in my left side. I am 7 days Post op.
When I spoke to my doctor, he stated that my pain is normal, the spot
where it hurts the most is where he did the most of my laprosic work. He
stated my muscle will be sore for a while. If that is what you are
referring to this is my experience. But it is always best to get a true
medical opinion about any pain. Pain is not natural, so run and find out
why yours is there.

i had the same sort of pain, at about the same time out as you are. couldnt
get comfortable. you should call your doc's office, they can either assure
you it's normal or have you come in to be checked. i suffered for over a
week til i went in, and while it was 'normal' it was so severe i couldnt
get fluids in or get any relief, so they gave me pain meds to get thru the
worst of it. so dont suffer needlessly.

I also had uncomfortable pains about 2-2 1/2 weeks post op.. I was told i
needed to do more walking it was GAS.. & i started to move a bit more
& the pain also moved so i knew it was gas... BUT ALWAYS CHECK WITH
YOUR DR...... YOU DO NOT Have to be in any pain is what my Dr. said.. best
of luck. SMILES BABS

I did not have much pain my first week, not until my second week it
started, it was sharp stabbing pain to the left side, I went to go see my
doctor he said it was normal, the weird part was that you would normally
expect that kind of pain immediatly after the surgery, this pain starts
about a week or so after. I thought it was never gonna go away, but it did
about 3 to 4 weeks post op. I too was scared, I thought I had did something
wrong.

I am 3 months out. At a little over a week out I started to get this
horrible stabbing pain that at times would knock the wind out of me. When I
checked with the doctor, he suspected I had popped a stitch. He said that
it wasn't uncommon to happen. It wasn't until I really watched how I moved,
refrained from bending over, and just generally was more careful - that it
finally got better. It took about 2 weeks for it to totally go away after I
stopped all the excessive movement.
Hope this helps
