Yes, it is normal. Some people are hungry right away. I was ok til about
20 months out. Then I had desires for food I thought were gone forever.

Hi. I had my surgery last May and have already begun to experience hunger
again. It really shook me up because in the back of my mind I wonder if I
can control it. I am afraid I will gain that 150 pounds back.
Intellectually I know that is highly unlikely but because I have failed so
many diets in the past, I still have that doubt about this as well. But
when I had my surgery I figured I was the one person who wouldn't lose any
weight from it. Untrue. So I am probably worrying for nothing but the
return of hunger did shake me up. Best wishes for health and happiness
always.

I hardly had any sensation of hunger for about a year plus. You may not
have the hunger sensation that you experienced when you had a normal sized
stomach anymore. I do not, but everyone is different. My husband had open
RNY just like me and he experiences hunger much more then I do, To the the
point that his pouch hurts real bad if he goes too long without food. I
think the key to not feeling much hunger is the multiple meals like you are
eating. I try to get 3 meals and 3 snacks in a day also as you do. You
sometimes just need to schedule your food as a regular part of your day now
even if you do not feel hungry. Try planning having some cheese or a
protein drink for your snacks and then have your meals scheduled for a week
or on a daily basis to make sure you are getting your nutrition. You need
the protein grams especially to maintain healthy muscle etc.

around 6 months I was occasionally hungry. at 9 months ravenous hunger came
back. I have to eat the 6 small meals a day to keep from getting that way
or I'll eat wrong stuff.

I have no hunger and forget to eat too. I bought a watch that has five
daily alarms. I set it to ring every three hours starting at 9AM. I have
been using this now for a couple of weeks and I am feeling better and
losing faster. Good luck!

I envy you! My feelings of hunger returned at about 4-5 months out. They
were not like pre-op though, and really still aren't. My stomach does not
growl like it used to, it's just a mild empty feeling really. It's easier
to ignore than it used to be pre-op. I don't have too much trouble with
keeping it at bay. I eat breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon
snack, dinner, and sometimes an evening snack if I eat dinner before 6:30.

I'll be 2 years post-op in June and I still don't get hungry. Occasionally
I get an "empty" feeling that reminds me I need to eat, but
really not "hungry". I think the best solution is to schedule
your eating instead of relying on feelings of hunger. I'm just glad I DON'T
get hungry - much easier to keep the weight off!

I'll be 3 years out in about 1 1/2 months, and I have no hunger sensation
at all. I get a bad headache if I go for too long, and the head hunger?
Oh yeah, THAT I've got. No hunger pains though. I'm glad for it! Good
luck.

I am 2-yrs postop lap rny and still do not get hungry...which means I tend
to forget to eat if I am busy and not thinking about it. About 9-months
ago I had to start tracking my food intake to first make sure I was eating
enough (I was not and still am not usually) and second as a reminder to me
to eat.
