Question:
CAN H - PYLORI KEEP YOU FROM BEING APPROVED FOR WLS ?
CAN YOU BE DENIED WLS IF YOU HAVE H - PYLORI OR IS IT A CONDITION THAT WILL HELP YOU GET APPROVED FOR SURGERY ? — CHERYL M. (posted on June 24, 2003)

No it will not hurt your chances of surgery. My surgeon checks everyone
for H Pylori during the pre-op testing. If it is positive, you get a round
on meds to clear it out. No biggie so dont stress over it. Better to take
care of it now then have problems post-op. ~Sidney~ Open RNY 10-23-02 down

No, it shouldn't prevent the surgery unless you also have an ulcer. I
actually tested positive for H-pylori during my pre-op testing. I ended up
having to take medicine to clear it up prior to surgery. If you do have it
my suggestion is to take ALL the pills you are given (and there will be a
lot). Also, make sure you get a follow up test after to surgery to make
ensure you're clear of it. Good luck.
