Question:
Has anyone had the RNY Lap Surgery and gotten pregnant?

I am considering having the RNY Lap Surgery and was wondering if anyone out there has had this surgery and been able to get pregnant? An if so, were there any difficulties during the pregnancy?    — Edna D. (posted on June 12, 2003)

I am here to attest that you can get pregnant after RNY. I was 5 months post op when I found out I was pregnant. Believe me it was not planned nor was it what I expected for my 40th birthday. I was actually 3 months along before I even realized it, and this is my fourth child! I was very concerned about being able to nourish the baby and carrying to full term. I am happy to say that I am due in 3 weeks and have had a good pregnancy. Nutrition has went excellent. I have gained only 20 pounds and everything shows my baby to be healthy. The only problem I have suffered is a lack of energy. It has been very draining on me and this last month is worse, however, I get a s much rest as I can and do not over do it. I recommend waiting at least 1-2 years post op though. It will be easier on you.
