Question:
IS heartburn USUAL ?

I HAVE BEEN HAVING JUST AWFUL HEARTBURN, I TAKE TWO PRESCRIPTION STENGHT ANTI ACID A DAY, PLUSI EAT ANYWHERE FROM 6 TO 8 TUMS A DAY. LAST NIGHT IT WOKE ME UP, I HAD ACID ACUTALLY COMING INTO MY MOUTH, I SLEEP WITH THE HEAD OF MY BED SLIGHTLY RAISED, SHOULD I CALL THE DOCTOR, WHAT TROUBLE CAN ALL THIS CAUSE DO YOU THINK, IF I JUST TREAT IT LIKE I HAVE BEEN...THANKS CINDY    — CYNTHIA W. I would definately call the doc for this one. It's not normal to have to take that many tums a day. YOu didn't say what surgery you had, so it all depends as well. RNY is supposed to, doesn't always, but supposed to fix heartburn and acid reflux. And it's also not good to have acid in your mouth awaken you at night. That's something only your doc and surgeon can help you with, but don't let yourself suffer! Goodluck to you :-)
