I purchased my own insurance through Blue Cross/Blue Shield of MI. I
picked a ppo because they will cover this type of insurance. There is a 6
months waiting period and it takes a while to get covered. You could end
up paying more because your a high risk if you weigh enough. The best
thing to do is to look into your local Chamber of Commerce to see if they
have anything available. I only pay $540 a month for our whole family
which is cheaper then the insurance offered through my husband's work. The
coverage is great if you get Community Blue. Best thing to do is shop
around and make sure they will pay for the surgery before signing up. I
hope it helps. It has paid off for me and probably has saved my life. The
6 months was worth the wait.
