Question:
How long after surgery can i start taking regular vitamins? (opposed to chewable)
at 1 month post-op i can tolerate just about any food just in very small porttions. I can't stand the taste of chewables...when can i start taking regualar vitamins... — D K. (posted on August 30, 2002)

At 6 weeks post op I was allowed to begin taking regular vitamins. The
only requirement is the pill must be smaller than an M&M, if not I had
to cut it. I too HATED chewables. Good Luck to ya!

Some people can swallow whole pills right away. I split pills for the first
30 days. I didn't have to, but I was afraid. Your esophagus has not been
touched, so it's just time sitting in your pouch.

I hated chewables too. I started regular vitamins at 4 weeks.
