Question:
I need help... I am looking for chewable calcium citrate.
If I can't find them then I need to find a calcium citrate pill that doesn't require me to cut 4 caplets in half to get in the required dosage. These caplets are all huge and the places on the internet don't tell you what size the caplets are. Having to swallow 4 pills is one thing but having to cut those 4 pills in half makes 8 pills in addition to the 5 pills I take every day. I can't do it and I need advice. Please anyone???????? — MARY W. (posted on August 5, 2002)

Twinlabs makes a chewable calcium citrate. They are kinda pricey compared
to other calcium citrate but I hated taking all those cut up pieces of
Citrical.

I had a hard time finding the chewables, too. So, I bought the big
"horse pills", and I crush them and put them into my protein
drinks. Once the drink is all whipped up, I don't even know the calcium is
there.
I also add lecithin to my protein drinks. It is a great artery scrubber.
At 52, clean arteries is something I worry about.

Hey Mary, if you don't mind a pitch for a liquid Calcium Citrate (w/Vit D),
I will recommend this stuff. All you need is 1/2 Tblsp 3x day & it
tastes like a tart yogurt. So yummy. Can be found here:

You can see my & others' review of this product on this site, too.

I hear ya! That is the same problem I had. I can't stand to swallow pills
and golly those calciums are huge! I found some calcium citrate capsules
that are 500 mg each and have vitamin D and magnesium (which help your body
use the calcium). They are not very big and go down easily cuz they are
capsules. I take one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I got mine at
www.bodybuilding.com and I have seen that they can also be found on the
vitalady site. Hope this helps. It worked for me!

I also take the citrate that Cheri mentioned. They are so much easier to
swallow than the Citrical. Until I could swallow a decent size pill,
though, I used the Citrical Liquitab that is a tablet that dissolves in
water like alka-selzer. It ends up tasting like an orange soda. The
stores usually don't carry it, I just asked for a special order at the
local drug store and they had it for me the next day. I hope you find
something that works for you.

I've never liked taking pills and perhaps that is why I still take my
Flintstones chewables every day. I, too, use the Calcium citrate liquid
that I get from www.tropicaloasis.com. It's a thick white liquid that
tastes like bitter orange. I take 1/2 a tablespoon twice a day and thats
it-over with quick!! And no horse pills...

I take twinlabs calcium citrate (chewable). I got it from vitacost.com.
They are a very sour cherry flavor and I love them. YOu have to take 4/day
to get 1000 mg. I believe they were $7.25/bottle of 60 (20 day supply).

I highly recommend considering a liquid calcium. A great liquid calcium
(tastes great too) is "Isotonix" brand Calcium Plus Formula.
This supplement line is sold in powder form and ingested in liquid form
after adding water. You can expect to absorb around 90% of the calcium
within 5 minutes! Unlike tablet form you can expect only 0-30% absorption
at the most. This product has a variety of calciums that convert to
Calcium Citrate when mixed with water. It also contains the needed Vitamin
D3 along with Vit. C, magnesium, manganese, B2, boron, and potassium. This
combination ensures the highest absorption that is so critical. For more
information you are welcome to email me at: [email protected] Also,
the website for more info. is: pattischmoldt.unfranchise.com Just
click on "Isotonix". Patti RN

I didn't care for the fruit flavored chewables (twinlab) so I sent away to
Quest vitamins on the web and they sent Spearmint flavor from Canada.(!)
