Question:
Is one week off enough? VGB surgery coming up, and would like to take only a week off

I had Open RNY on Tuesday 9-25-01 and went back to work on the following
Tuesday. I have a desk job and did very well. Everyone is different and
you have to give your body time to heal but at the same time as a single
parent with no other income, I had to do what I had to do. I have had no
complications at all so that was fortunate. Best of luck - it was not
nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.

I agree with Kathy. I went back to work after a week and two days--although
I worked from home starting the day I came home from the hospital. Same
thing--as a single parent, you do what you have to do. Plus, I was just
bored. ;^) But you definitely need to be aware of how your body is
recovering. If you're not physically ready to go back to work, going back
early is only going to drag your recuperation out longer. Take care of
yourself.

I had open VBG and felt really good at 1-1/2 weeks. I was able to stay at
home and mend though.
