Question:
What can I mix crushed vitamins with?
I am having a real time mixing my crushed vitamins with any thing that doesn't make me gag. Anyone know the secret? Also have heard of spray in your mounth vitamins any one trying them? Kathy — 2045 (posted on September 2, 2001)

I'm only pre-op but I've had people discuss this at my doctors meetings.
People have placed the crused vitamins in a glass filled with Isopure
(protein drink that looks and tastes like gatorade GNC-$3.50) Other people
mix it in with their protein shakes. Some put it in pureed banannas, or
other fruits or veggies. Pudding. Water. Fruit2O (flavored water). I
can't imagine any of these vitamins enhancing the taste, but if you can
stomach it (no pun) then go for it. Maybe you'll be better off with liquid
centrum, Miracle 2000, Flinstones Complete or sugar free Bugs Bunny
vitamins. I wish you the best of luck and I hope I've helped some. Like I
said, it's only word of mouth for me, but not for long.

You might talk with your surgeon, but at 5 months post op the lady I
angeled for has been on chewables every day since day 1 out of the hospital
and is doing just fine, with a b12 shot every two - three months. (RNY -
Open Distal)

My friend mixed hers with unsweetened applesauce and found they went down
easy and covered the taste. Good luck!

Following RNY surgery, my surgeon places his patients on chewable
children's vitamins with iron for the first 3 weeks post-op. After that,
patients are instructed to take any vitamin with iron of their choice.
There are now 3 of us in our family who are post-RNY (6-20 months) and we
have all done fine with that regimen, and all labs remain completely
normal...no problems with absorption or swallowing. Good luck!
