Question:
how many calories are you consuming?
I had my surgery on November 1, 2010 and I left the hospital weighing 225 and on 7 December I weighed 189.9. But since then I have been stagnant and lost the same pound over and over again. I am just curious, how does everyone get in their 80 grams of protein a day and not go over 700 calories doing it? I am really trying to be careful, and i'm not eating any solid meat protein except a little tuna. I rely primarily on shakes and protien bars. Someone throw me a bone here and help me plan an easy starter diet I can stick to! — Kimberly H. (posted on December 18, 2010)

I am over a year out and still dont eat 700 calories. I eat 3 Bariatric
Fusion shakes a day. Each is just under 140 calories with 27 grams protein.
The flavors and stats are great. I mix with ice, 1/2 banana (it helps with
texture and potassium which I am low on, and either cold coffee for the
capachino or chocolate, or vitamin water zero for the fruit flavors. I make
a killer strawberry lemon cooler, not to mention my own orange julius. If I
can afford the calories, I will use light silk soy milk for a richer desert
like shake. That will put you at about 550 - 600. If I have hit the gym and
am at a calorie deficit, I will eat some lean protein or even splurge on
sushi. I AVOID THE BARS because you do not get enough protein/calorie.
I stick to shakes or whole food in moderation. I am always satisfied, and
in a little over a year (and after a very slow Starr due to medical issues)
I have lost well over 100 lbs and went from a 26/28 to a size 11 jean.
Looking back, it is almost unbelievable - especially remembering those
first couple of months. 10 lb. 7 lb. What am I doing wrong?!? But it was
all about patience and figuring my body out.
Try my lean shakes. They will keep you under. & ditch the bars. Just

Have you tried Greek yogurt (Fage, Oikos)? You can mix in all kinds of
flavors - sweet and salty. I make onion dip with it all the time and it
has lots of protein, more than regular yogurt and as much as the shakes. I
also really learned to like cottage cheese around this point post-op. I
had never really liked it before (perhaps never tried) but now love it -
particularly the whipped variety. It also has lots of protein.

I had my surgery on April 22, 2010 and already lost 120 pounds. I only want
to lose another 20 or so? I drink my liquid vitamins first thing in the AM
with some orange protein drink, then in about 2 hours, I fix an egg. I
don't like eggs that much but mix it with cottage cheese or salsa with
cheese and then I can eat them. For snacks, I drink more protein fruit
drinks, wildberry, cranberry, orange or pineapple.(this also helps to get
the water intake in that is needed) Lunch is romaine lettuce leaf rolled up
with deli meat, cheese and dipped in mustard, or cottage cheese or lean
steak or chicken. Dinner is some type of meat, and a bit of veggie and
snack again is protein drink then some Greek yogurt or more cottage cheese.
I don't count calories, I just eat lean meats, beans, a few veggies and
fruits and get lots of exercise.
