Question:
Endoscopy
I had an endoscopy yesterday because I throw up a lot on foods, not dumping, I am very compliant with the allowed foods we are supposed to eat. My question to you is, will I now stop losing weight because the Dr. dilated? I am sort of freaking out now. — FSUMom (posted on December 23, 2009)

Your stoma has a stricture in it (closed up), you aren't losing weight
because of a stricture (well, maybe), but the doctor is just dilating your
stoma back to where it is supposed to be originally. You will continue to
lose weight. Your pouch is still the same size that it was post-op. If
you didn't get dilated open, you would not be able to eat all and yeah,
you'll lose weight even more, but you'll also become malnourished and/or
dehydrated which can of course lead to death. No need to freak out!

If you were to keep vomiting your pouch above the band could prolapse and
that is not good, it happened to me and I had to have surgery to fix the
problem, you will lose weight if you limit yourself to 4oz at a time and if
you are still hungry in a 1/2 hour have another 4oz, I found that it takes
at least that amount of time for you stomach to tell your brain that you
have eaten something. Most of the time I am not hungry after I do this.
