Question:
severe vomiting 7 months lapband
Hi all, I have been hospitalized for sever dehydration and was low on most every thing. Was doing great until about 6 weeks ago. begain vomiting every third or fourth day. Now is every meal. Chewing food well. Even vomiting protein shakes. And secreations. Had my surgery in same state I live but not same city. Drs in Wichita, Ks have not found answer yet. IV's for 4 days desperate for HAELP suggestions. etc. Had 1 amd half cc's let out with not help. PA who does fills and check up says its not band, hospital Drs. say it has to be HELPPPP. — Cjames3259 (posted on November 16, 2009)

I don't have the lapband but did they check to see if the band had slipped?
Have you notified your surgeon? You need to get answers fast!! Good luck
to you, Toni

Could it be your gallbladder? That can cause vomiting and is a common
problem after significant weight loss. Have you had this checked out?

Call your surgeon's office and INSIST on getting in to see the SURGEON as
soon as possible. Don't settle for the nurse or the PA. Request a test to
check whether the band has slipped or eroded if he doesn't suggest it
himself. If he won't help you, try to find a "Center of
Excellence" in your state (ObesityHelp has a site to help you locate
resources by state). Make an appointment for a second opinion. Keep your
family physician involved, and sign any paperwork required (ask for it) so
the surgeon sends his records to your doctor. Be your own advocate and
fight for your well being. You are worth it. God Bless.

I had pretty much this same problem back last yr. I was at the time 2.5 yrs
out with the band. Done lots of testing, thougth it might be gallbladder
but wont. It was the bottom of my esphohus (spelling) had dialated and they
drained my band. Then waited about 6 weeks, had a barum swallow and
everything looked fine...so started back with some fills. They left it just
under what I had in it when problem happened. Now I am fine. I have a 4 cc
band and at the time had 2.5 cc's in it. Now I only have 2 cc's. I did go
up to 2 and a 1/4 but found that to be tight and went back to the 2. Been
doing just fine. I did gain a few pds with band empty but nothing to worry
about, I have since dropped those pds and back to the weight I have
maintained. Best of luck.
