Question:
protein...how much and what kind?
I am 4 weeks post op...and I am not sure what I should be eating in regards to protein or how much. I have been eating tuna, salmon and some ground meats. Help me if you can with any ideas. Thanks — dragonfly814 (posted on November 16, 2009)

There are so many proteins out there. Just be sure you select a quality
product that provides all the supplements your body needs. Without the
proper amount of protein it is harder to get the weight off. Check with
your doctor and ask him for a good protein. QUALITY IS WHAT YOU'RE
LOOKING FOR IN A PROTEIN.

My doctor tells us between 60 - 80 grams of protein daily. I use the
Special K protein mix in my water, they have packets and ready made. It
helps my protein to add up as I'm already drinking water so why not add to
my protein total also? I am still using the Unjury protein (Whey Protein
Isolate). I still fix a shake for breakfast and am almost 2 years out. It
makes me feel full and gets a jump start on my protein total everyday
without having to think too much. I found I loved pinto beans or refried
(FF of course). Good Luck

Best advice to you is ask your surgeon's nutritionist. They can answer all
your questions & more. They are the best source to go to for help. That
is thy they are there. Good luck!
