I've seen it listed as a precaution many times on different website. If
you google 'High Protein, low carb", you will find articles such as
this one: "Diets heavy on foods that are high in protein and low in
carbohydrates can increase the risk of kidney stones and reduce the body's
ability to absorb calcium after just six weeks."

Yes! Very much so! Most of us do no drink enough water and/or do not take
enough calcium CITRATE. And worse, many take calcium carbonate (Viactiv,
OScal, Caltrate, Coral, etc) and that forms stones. Citrate acts much like
a sponge and binds to the oxalates.
I got mine for Xmas, at 3 yrs post-op. Oh, and coffee, tea and colas.
Brown liquids. I was warned, didn't listen. It's not the caffeine, it's
the acid, tannin, phosphates.
I started paying a LOT more attention after that. My dh didn't and kept to
his two 64 oz diet cokes/day. He got his for Easter. Nice, huh?
