Question:
Products
I have a comment not a question. I dont feel is appropriate for people to solicate their products in the forum. Its one thing to pass on experiences about products but not selling them. Just my feeling — urbrat2 (posted on October 28, 2008)

I feel the same way, Paula ... Especially about one person in particular.
Every time I see his responses to different posts, it makes me wonder if he
owns the company or gets a commission for doing that. I absolutely do not
get the impression that he cares about what anyone is going thru; he seems
to care more that people buy the product he's pushing. I have found it to
be tremendously irritating, but I don't say anything because no one else
says anything and I thought maybe it was just me ...

I totally agree with you Paula. This is not the place to read about
selling one's protein products. If that is what this site is going to
turn out to be, I for one will not be participating in reading or
commenting on questions. I can go to different sites if I want to purchase
protein products.

I have posted the same comment as you, a few months ago. I was especially
frustrated when I found the person had not had, nor was going to have WLS.
I think it is just plain wrong!

I agree 100%! I had someone who added me as a friend, at first because we
were corresponding about WLS, but then I started get AVON solicitations
from her! When I asked her not to send those to me, she told me not to get
UGLY about it. Can you imagine! This website is for WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY,
NOT NETWORKING.

I AGREE!!! I was asking about some vitamins to try before surgery, and
what kind of protein shakes and he kept sending me info. I finally told
him to stop and he got very upset with me. Is their something we can do to
stop this from happening. thanks for being a second family.

I too have been very annoyed with this certain person (J.M.) and I think it
is about time that whoever runs this site let him know that if he wants to
advertise here he should pay for the advertisment just like everyone else
who advertises. It is fraudulent to misrepresent yourself which makes me
think twice about the product too. Someone who is not even considering WLS
has no business doing this. Zimra

I agree 100%. I wondered just like everyone else. People should go on
e-bay or somewhere to hawk their products.

TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE! It just gets under my skin for these persons to
think that they are smart but instead are almost an invasion to privacy and
intrusive to us that are serious about this.

Actually I DON'T agree at all. I, for one, have appreciated the
information - that's what this forum is for. If someone happens to be
selling something that would be beneficial, I want to know about it. I
don't hunt alot of sites, I come here for support and suggestions. And,
who else to make knowledgeable recommendations than someone who has
traveled this same journey. I think your complaints are inappropriate. I
am very THANKFUL for this resource.

I am sorry, but I have to add another comment. I can't believe the
negativity around this - we all need all the help and suggestions we can
get. If you aren't interested, don't read his responses and don't respond.
This site is FULL of advertising!! I have absolutely no vested interest
in this, other than he is not pushing his products on anyone, he simply
makes people aware of it. If someone isn't interested, just ignore the
info. I really don't think it requires all this negativity. I do, by the
way, order from him and have found him to be extremely responsive, highly
ethical, very reasonable pricing, and offering awesome products for my
journey. I try very hard to stay away from negativity because it's toxic,
but if you feel like blasting me, feel free to do so
([email protected]). Blessings to you all.

That's a fine line. I had RNY in March and I also "sell" a
product that helped me tremendously and could help others as well. To be
honest, I haven't gained ONE customer from any WLS forum but I still try to
share the info because it helped me so much. I don't care who people buy
from but I hope that if they're searching for a good product they will give
it a try because I know what it's like to be struggling after surgery
trying to find the right vitamins/protein/products and not having success,
not to mention seeing people that have made an entire career out of selling
WLS products while many of us can't hardly afford to buy what we need. I
love Susan Maria and her site - I have used it a lot and I buy from there -
but she definitely makes a good living so should we fault her for that? I
don't think so!! Someone has to make money.... it may as well be US, the
people who go through the surgery, the pain, the struggles, the journey.
Right?? That's just my thoughts.... I do know that there are some
"tactless" spam-like ads but we should all be able to just ignore
them.

Most of us can identify with those trying to help and those only trying to
sell us a product (and...there are more than one who are not all
"him's" but "she's" too!!) ...you can always choose to
ignore these certain people. I check them out and see if they have a good
product for me...if not...I don't go to their site anymore or order their
product...no harm done...
There are Terms of Service (TOS) when getting an account with OH...and if
you feel anyone is violating the TOS rules, you should save examples of the
posts and report abuse via e-mail to [email protected].
Here is you will find the TOS Rules...Look under Advertising and
Selling...http://www.obesityhelp.com/content/terms-of-service.html

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but these people conveniently post on
their page that they are "a friend of a WLS patient". They do
not purport to be interested in what this site caters to.

I bet you'd feel better if you took a powerful "liquid"
vitamin... you should ask James McClintock about it. ;)
Honestly, what bothers me more than the product solicitation is that the
same response is left over and over again regardless of the question.
Each and every question on this page got the "try this powerful
vitamin" response:
