Everything makes me feel full. I feel full when I am empty! But are you
sipping 8 oz over an hour or trying to drink it faster? Good luck!

YES YOU CAN!!! My mom did a month after her post-op. I drink when I eat
just little sips. If you Drink alot at once you will streach out ur pouch
out. U can always go in and ask them to check. Thats how my mom found out.
Hope all is well

Highly unlikely. Don't waste your time or money on the cottage cheese test
either... it doesn't tell you anything.
Your stomach/pouch is not like a balloon. A balloon has one entrance and no
exits. When you fill a balloon with water, it stretches and then pops.
Your stomach/pouch stretches some (this is normal and necessary) but won't
pop because it has an entrance and an exit.
If you make a small hole in a balloon and fill it with water, the water
will flow out of the hole preventing the balloon from stretching and
popping. When you drink, liquid enters your stomach/pouch via the
esophagus and drains out at the bottom where it has been surgically
connected to your intestine.
You might want to consider something other than water... crystal light,
warm tea, sugar free flavored drinks. A lot of people have difficulty with
plain water but do well with other drinks.
Best wishes.
PS. Myth Busters on the discovery channel did a really neat experiment on
this topic... they were trying to bust the "if you drink coke and eat
pop rocks, your stomach will explode" myth and were successful. I
think they did manage to rupture the stomach but only after closing off the
stomach so it couldn't empty and filling it full of gas producing
substances.

Hi the surgeon told me that fluid just goes right through the pouch very
easily. The way to strech you pouch is to eat more than you are suppose to
and the wrong things like carbonated drinks. I am almost 2 mths out and I
have to force myself still to drink all through the day but the surgeon
said that this was normal. My dr. had it done 7 yrs ago and understands
what I am going through, in fact most of the nurses in his office had it
done. They all say it is normal. Good luck!! And I am not sure about how
other drs do it but mine gave me a (owners manual) he said it was for my
new body. It tells me all these things that I can expect and if I still
have questions I can call day or night to get answers. If you are still
worried call the dr's office and speak to the nurse and get answers. Just
because the surgery is over does not mean that their job is over. It is
better to ask than to make yourself sick with worry.
