Not quite into the 2-week preop thing, but just wanted to congratulate you
on your upcoming surgery. I've wondered about this because I also tend to
get hunger headaches if I missed meals, not eating right, etc. I'll be
interested in your responses.

been the hadest part for me. I almost through in the towel at the stage
you are at. Yes I had those headache right before surgery and a short
time after. They are hungry headaches. Drink lots of water and pray about
it and God will guide you through. God Bless and Good luck.

Two weeks of pre-op liquids is kind of extreme-- you can shrink your liver
by eliminating fats and alcohol and you can get "cleaned out" by
going on liquids for a few days before surgery with some additional
assistance in that realm. But that aside, you could be suffering from
caffeine withdrawal if you were also told to eliminate caffeine-- each time
I tried to quit caffeine before surgery the headache was unbearable.
Fortunately, our surgeon allowed it in moderation. You could be suffering
from too low a caloric intake-- for many people, anything less than about
600-800 calories per day will make you feel kind of like crap and could
induce some headaches. You could also be suffering from a lack of protein,
particularly if you are not consuming protein shakes or drinks. No one
should have to live with a constant headache for a couple of weeks. Try to
get in to see your surgeon to review your concerns.

Well, it can be normal because you are going through withdrawl. One of the
major symptoms of getting off our "drug of choice" is headache.
They should pass. But call your doc if they persist after about a month.

Drink something with caffeine, like diet iced tea.

Could be caffeine withdrawal or even dehydration. I know you are on
liquids, but you still may be taking in less than usual.

OK well my doc gave me a temp prescription for potassium pills while I was
doing the pre-op liquid diet and I cannot swallow pills, so did not take
them and I had a SCREAMING headache. It is post-sugar headache...kinda like
cold turkey drug addicts and detox for alcoholics. It will pass, but if you
are able to take some potassium do it. No Tylenol helped me either and I
regret not trying to get down the pills. Best of luck to you on your
journey. You will love your new self after... Kathy In massachusetts

Have you thought about having your sugar checked. I had a problem with
headaches and dizziness in my 2nd week and found out my sugar was dropping
between 45-60. This resolved itself now but, at the time I had to drink 2oz
of pure juice to get it up.

***THANK YOU**** It finally subsided, I think it was the calorie
restriction.
