Yes it can erode, that is an ulcer. Medications are used to treat it,
there are more invasive things that they can use to treat them, but they
will try medications first.

I JUST CAME BACK FROM AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY SURGEON LAST WEEK. I HAD OPEN
RNY IN SEPTEMBER OF 2003. I HAVE LOST 214 POUNDS. HE TOLD ME THAT HE PUTS
A BAND IN THERE AND THAT IT CAN GET EROIDED. AND THAT IT IS IN FACT CALLED
AN ULCER. HE PUT ME ON PREVACID FOR 10 DAYS. IF IT IS NOT ALLOT BETTER BY
THEM I AM SUPPOSE TO CALL HIS OFFICE 100 MILES AWAY AND I WILL GO UP AND
HAVE IT SCOPED. HE SAID HE CAN GO IN AND TAKE THE BAND OFF (I REALLY DON'T
UNDERSTAND THAT YET) BUT THEY WILL TRY MEDS AND THEN LOOK WITH A SCOPE
BEFORE ANY DECISION IS MADE.
