Tri care sucks because medicare sucks is the answer to why they don't pay
well. I have Medicare and Tricare and because Medicare only allowed 1,300
dollars of a 10,000 dollar bill for my surgery that is all that Tricare
would allow and they ended up not paying a penny of it as they put it
towards an adjustment. The doctor accepted assignment and now he is out of
alot of money because neither insurance even pretended to pay half of the
bill. I wrote to medicare several months ago. They never wrote back and
then I tryed Tricare and got the same response. That is why you can't find
anyone to do the surgery. There are some military medical facilities that
will put you on a waiting list and do you in a year or two but that is
about as much as you can hope for. I am in Ohio but have been working
with Tricare-Champus most of my life and I know what you are going through.
Tricare is governed by what Medicare will allow for surgeries and they do
not keep up with the times. They are using a pay scale from the civil war
era. It is embarrassing to me that our federal government lets this
travisty go on. Good luck but you would be better off going to a military
facility that is doing the surgery.

Kelly, Look on here up top click on Insurance, then New Jersey, Then T for
Tricare. There is one review for Tricare Prime & 19 reviews for
Tricare. You'll need to look at each one to see who they've used, to see if
anyone of them is close to you, and if need be while in their profiles you
can email directly to them to ask questions. Good Luck

Kelly, Your PCP should be able to help you, and if not go to TriCare's web
site and check what Dr's are in your area that are in the NET!
I have TriCare Prime, and live in NC I could not have ask for better
service with anyone else. I have only had to pay out of my pocket about
$300.00 and thats all been for my copays, not much when my Dr and hospital
bill combines where like $45,000.00
Best of luck, keep searching you will find one.

First you HAVE to go to your PCP and they will give you a referral to a
surgeon. I have Tricare Prime and I only had one out of poclet expense and
that was $350. But Tricare has a whole mess of stuff that you have to go
through before you can even get a referral to a surgeon. If you have any
questions that I might b able to help with more, please let me know.
Take care~
