I am 7 months out of a VBG. (Vertical Banded Gastroplasty) I can not eat
ANY bread. I can eat some SOME types of chips but very little and no water
or fluid for at least 30 minutes. at 3 weeks your pouch is VERY small, I
would not recommend and bread at this point. I would wait at least 2 months
before you even try.

I'm 3 years out and can only tolerate a couple of bites of toast.
Non-toasted bread makes a horribly uncomfortable lump in my pouch.
My own personal rule for this sort of food is this: If I took a handful and
squeezed it, would it crumble into a handful of crumbs, or would it make a
ball. If it would ball up, like bread, I avoid it.
Did your surgeon give you an eating plan for your recovery? That is what
you should be going by.

Might as well not eat bread or crackers. Who needs the extra carbs? Once in
awhile I get a big craving for bread and I eat 1/2 piece of whole wheat
bread. Before RNY in Feb I was a big bread eater and I do miss bread evey
now and then. Be strong!! I am hanging in there with you.

Saltine crackers should be alright, but check with your Dr.- they are all
different and have different protocols.
At 3 weeks I was eating a few crackers with peanut butter and baked
tostitos with refried beans.
Bread is difficult unless toasted and even then can be troublesome.
As I have described it to my family, it feels like the Pillsbury Dough Boy
is sitting in my pouch and it is uncomfortable, to say the least.

I had a slice of toast at breakfast at your stage and it really made me
sick. I was at a 5 star hotel restaurant and barely made it to the
bathroom before it came back up.
Saltine crackers stay down. Unlike the other poster, I had difficulty
keeping peanut butter down.
My advise: at three weeks, stick to refried beans, cottage cheese, and
other protein semi soft foods.

Bread is going to be very difficult for quite a while. I wouldn't even
attempt it unless it were thin (light) bread and toasted very crispy.
Optimally, you should probably wait a while even for that. I found
crackers did go down much easier.

I am only allowed yucky whole grain or wheat bread, and crackers. I could
not eat them for three months, though.

Hello -- I am 3 yr/4 mths post op - down 140 lbs. To this day I cannot
usually handle much bread at all -- CLUMPS and must come back up.
Therefore, I usually avoid most breads unless toasted ( even then it may
not stay down ). You really are NOT at a point that you should even be
eating bread (at least according to my experience and orders from my MD).
Hang in there ......this is SO worth your patience !!!!!!!
