Question:
Severe Pain on left side

Tomorrow I will be 3 weeks post-op and the main pain I have had has been this stabbing sensation on my left side under my rib cage. Has anyone else felt this pain? Also my back is killing me on the left side also, has anyone else had this problem.    — PoohBearNC (posted on July 10, 2006)

Yes, I was told that is from the gas's that build up in your chest from the surgery and it will take a bit but they will go away. The shoulder pain was another thing...... I had cold ice packs on for a couple weeks and slept on the recliner in the living room due to the pain. But the think about after 2 weeks it was gone.... Good Luck on being on the Losing side... Hang in there it does get better!!!

Just to let you know, I had the same thing. So severe I was taking Vicadins to ease the Pain. After much testing they discovered it was Gastritis, I still have severe pain 6 months later. I take a pill called Zegerid once a day, no Pain ever. it is not a pain killer helps you release all the gas easily. The best thing, ask your Dr about it. You should see a GI Dr. they are the ones who helped me.

You have just had your pllumbing changed, so it will hurt for a while. Walking helps the gas pain.
