Question:
Water
I am one week post op. I have been having loose stools since being at home. I notice that it is after drinking water. Just wanted to know if anyone else had this problem. Thanks. — 2bskinny (posted on February 15, 2006)

Yes, definitely! I had loose stools for the first 2 weeks. Hang in there,
your body will get back to normal!

It lasted about a week for me. Got better after starting pureed foods.
Hang in there!

Your stools will match your diet- you won't have normal stools until you
start back on regular foods. Liquid in, liquid out- soft foods in, and so
on. This is to be expected. Don't worry, its normal.

Hi, Katrina,
First of all, congratulations on your surgery! I had mine Feb. 6th. I
have the same situation, but am hoping it gets better!

I had loose stools after the surgery too but that is normal since you are
only on clear liquoids or full liquoids at this point. I also had problems
with the water as I have well water as opposed to the hospitals city water.
I have trouble everytime I go in the hospital with the change in types of
water. Just the abdomin being sensitive after having the surgery can do it
but if you are having too much diahrea you can easily get dehydrated. Make
sure you let your doctor know if the stools get to much to handle.
