Question:
6 weeks post-op and experiencing strong hunger

I thought I wasn't supposed to feel hungry! I'm six weeks post-op. I eat three meals plus two snacks, concentrate on protein, usually get my fluids in. Today I started with a protein shake for breakfast at 9, had chicken salad and a whole nectarine for lunch at 12:30 (was VERY hungry), a protein bar at 3:30 for snack, chicken for dinner at 6:30 and shared some fried cheese balls later in the evening and I'm STILL hungry. What can I do?    — Laura K. (posted on July 18, 2003)

I had adjustable lap band, and I am hungry all the time too. I haven't had my adjustment yet, I'm hoping it will help with my hunger. If I find something to help with hunger i'll post it. Right now I'm thinking super glue on my lips could be an option!

Hi Laura, the hunger pains usually do come back some time or rather. I now feel more hungrier than usual at times, I just now have to watch what I eat! And, as long as you do that and are still only able to eat alittle at at ime then you should be fine! If you are able to eat though more then usual then call your surgeon and ask to make sure there is nothing wrong like a large stoma or something-k. Good Luck to you!

i am hungry all the time too and it is not 'head hunger' i can tell the difference. i just go hungry, and who told you that you would not be hungry?? some people are not but that does not mean everyone wont be. i sure am starving most of the time. it sucks but instead of eating like i use to when i was hungry i eat smaller nopw, so still i am pleased. beast dieting the way i use too, 6 months of starving and losoing 20 pounds! now i have lost over 80 in less than 3 months (it was 116 total at last count) hang in there. i'd like to say it ghets better but it has gotten worse for me
