Question:
two week carnation instant breakfast
this is my 4th day and I cheated a little, ate a boiled egg. I plan on getting back on track and sticking with the liquid diet. Have I done a lot of harm? Can I recover? I'm feeling guilty, how do I deal with this and go on 10 more days? — december09 (posted on May 12, 2011)

Just start back on the PROTEIN drinks..Carnation Instantbreakfast is NOT on
the diet...too much sugar, not enough protein. I like Unjury or Dymatize
products, use two scoops with a bit of coffee and a bit of almond milk and
that gives me almost 55 grams of protein in ONE mug in the AM..then during
the day I use Proti 15 fruit mixes (15 grams of protein) in my water during
the day. I am a year out and still can't get a whole egg down so not sure
how you did that...

4th day what? preop postop?
if your post op, follow the plan like your life depends on it, it does,
i did the same thing you did and now i have a ulcer and cant keep anything
down.
when your face is in the trash can, a person tends to go over what put you
there,
FOLLOW THE PLAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i assume you are talking about the pre op diet. it was explained to me
that it was done to "shink" other organs out of the way to make
my laproscopic RNY safer for me. I believe it was specifically directed at
getting my liver out of the way. You must must must be willing to do what
your doc says. and if you cannot do it for two weeks prior to surgery, you
might want to wait and get some counseling. this is a life long choice.
it's not a fad diet. its not reversible. Your doc can treat your body for
obesity with this surgery. YOU need to treat your mind. Therapy,
counseling, maybe even 12 step programs can help with food addiction.
Further, carnation has a sugar free variety but i agree with the other
poster that there are better protein sources out there. Unjury is a great
one and even has a taste free variety. Now, did you completely screw
everything up with one egg? probably not. But be confident in this choice
and follow what you are told to do. Success or failure is on you now! You
can do this! reach out and get all the strength and support you need!
what's two weeks out of your life if it starts you on the way to good
health? Im cheering for you!

Don't get stressed out. Plenty of people took a night off on their
pre-surgery diet. I lost 15 pounds in ten days....and during those 10 days
I took a night off and ate steak. I don't regret it and it does not mean
you are not ready for the surgery. Relax and just settle down with the
liquids...you'll do fine.

I am assuming you are talking about the pre-surgery program. Try Pure
Protein products they are good and if you slush them they are like a shake.
I know it is hard for that 2 weeks, I also bought soups and pureed them
with water and added protein with it. make sure you add the protein when
the soup is cold. After surgery,
the pure protein drinks got me thru. there are a lot of protein products
out there and you need to find what fits your budget and taste. This is a
life time change. It doesn't stop when you can start to eat solids again.
