Question:
What causes teeth discoloration after WLS?
I am 3 wks post op and have noticed that my bottom front teeth have an opaque discoloration to them. I have always had good, clean teeth with no markings. What would cause this? and will it change back? Is it safe to use OTC whiteners? — mangogirl1 (posted on March 22, 2011)

I'm no professional but I tend to think the discoloration could be due to
hormone changes, chewable vitamins taken (especially B12 sublingual)
because of the dyes in them.
I DO know our gums change. We have to be more vigilant about flossing.
Especially early post-op when we have a hard time getting in enough fluids
(dry mouth can cause all kinds of oral issues, including bad breath).
I'm looking forward to hearing more about this subject.
Thanks!

the malabsorption from lack of vitamins. make sure u take excellent care of
your teeth! mine are almost gone, rotted from inside out due to this. have
checks at least twice a year! i wish i had...but i come from a family of
bad teeth, too. talk to your doctor about otc whiteners and also if you
have been on pain killers and antibiotics, this will discolor, too.
